We owe it to ourselves to find this person.
But not right now.
Right now, you owe it to yourself to become the right person.
The definition of the “right person” differs for all of us. Discovering the best version of ourselves is a time-intensive, ever-changing task. The things I like about myself today may be considered flaws later in life (or vice versa).
That’s okay.
I think back about all the projects I did in school. The ones I went over repetitively (paying close attention to detail) were the ones I did best on. The ones I rushed (or didn’t revise) usually left with me with poor results.
How is life any different?
In any project, a roadmap is useful. Look at your life and see what you’ve accomplished. Think about where you want to be in ten years. Are you doing things to make those goals a reality? Are you working towards the person you want to be in ten years?
Write out the qualities you admire, the job you want, and the type of people you want around. Then, go after those goals relentlessly.
You should treat life like your greatest project. It is.
Cheers,
Jordan
